A vacation in Bora Bora is the stuff of dreams. A unique moment that will be even more special if you spend it in an overwater bungalow. Visit the Pearl of the Pacific and make your dreams come true.
We’ve all seen picture postcard images of white sandy beaches, with the overwater bungalows of a luxury resort perched on the turquoise waters of the lagoon. The very first overwater bungalows were built here in The Islands of Tahiti, and they have become a symbol of Polynesian luxury. As well as in Bora Bora, you can find them in Tahiti, Huahine, Taha’a, Rangiroa, Tikehau and Moorea. But there’s something extra special about an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora, the island of romance. As newlyweds Laetitia and Nicholas commented: “There really isn’t anything to compare with sleeping above the lagoon, waking up and diving straight into the clear warm water!”
A jewel perched above the Pearl of the Pacific
The overwater bungalow is the very emblem of The Islands of Tahiti. The first ones were built in Raiatea in 1967 by the three Americans who owned the Bali Hai Hotel. Built in the style of traditional Polynesian architecture, from local wood with a roof of pandanus leaves, they are like jewels placed on the clear waters of the lagoon. Always stylishly decorated and equipped with TV, internet and air conditioning, they are perfect setting for a magical vacation.
A spacious private terrace from which you can dive straight into the lagoon, refined furnishings and decoration, with a window in the floor to observe the tropical fish swimming in the clear water below. In Bora Bora, you have a choice of views: the reef and the Pacific Ocean or the majestic Mount Otemanu, with glorious sunrises and sunsets to admire. Of course, you don’t have to be newlyweds to enjoy this luxurious accommodation. Go with the family and enjoy watching the kids as they dive endlessly from the deck into the world’s most beautiful natural swimming pool.
Around the overwater bungalow in Bora Bora
Whether it’s located on a motu or on the main island, your overwater bungalow is your own little corner of this island paradise. And the lagoon at your feet is a veritable playground for aquatic activities: jetski, sea scooter, snorkeling, scuba diving, paddleboard, windsurf, foil…After a hard day’s play, try a traditional Polynesian massage, complete with beauty treatments, which you can enjoy either in the hotel spa or in the privacy of your bungalow.
When you make your reservation, you have the opportunity to choose the view you’d prefer from your overwater bungalow. Study the options and decide whether you’d rather wake up looking at the ocean, or at Mount Otemanu and the island of Bora Bora. Many of the hotels are actually situated on a motu, which adds an even more exotic touch to your vacation. At night, you’ll be rocked to sleep by the sound of the waves rolling onto the coral reef. A shuttle service will collect you from the airport and will take you to the main island for visits.
