Tahitian Customs

Customs declarations: upon arrival in French Polynesia, you must declare all goods you are carrying with you and pay the relevant duties and taxes to the Customs Office. However, it is possible to be exempted from paying duties and taxes on goods listed below (purchases or gifts).

Customs formalities

All merchandise must be declared and any relevant duties paid at the Customs Office. Note that when entering or leaving French Polynesia, certain merchandise is subject to special rules. To view the list of such merchandise, visit: www.tahiti-aeroport.pf

Customs Regulations

All items brought in by travelers for their personal use are duty-free, provided they are non-prohibited items and are re-exported out of French Polynesia within six months. All telecommunications and radio equipment require an import license, and certain types of animal life and flora are protected by customs regulations. Strictly prohibited imports include live animals, all plant material, flowers, fruits, and cultured pearls of non-French Polynesian origin. Naturally, any weapons, ammunition, and narcotics are prohibited outright.
