The Islands of Tahiti  have been recognized by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) for the high quality of their strategic and operational protocols for managing human health and safety issues in COVID 19 crisis management within Polynesian tourism industry.

The “Safe Travels” certification, launched in May 2020 in response to the pandemic, was designed to help restore travelers’ confidence and revive the global travel and tourism industry. Recognized worldwide, it allows travelers to distinguish destinations which have adopted globally standardized protocols in terms of health and hygiene and which can thus benefit from “Safe Travels”.

The “Safe Travels” certification is supported by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and has been designed in accordance with guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Islands of Tahiti have been designated by the WTTC as a “Safe Travels” destination.
