Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea introduces a culinary revamp
With its one hundred and ten units, scattered in the gardens, along the beach and overlooking the sublime lagoon of Moorea, the Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort is the embodiment of the Polynesian art of living. A way of life in which gastronomy holds a central place, as demonstrated daily at the hotel’s four dedicated dining locations. A rule that prevails more than ever with the K, the only fine-dining restaurant on the island, reopened at the beginning of June 2022 after two years of closure related to the Covid health crisis.

The Sofitel Kia Ora Beach Resort, acquired in 2020 by the Polynesian group Wane, and reinvented by its new General Manager Sabine G. Lamberts, has always provided exceptional culinary experiences to its residents and visitors. A recently unified cooking squad, emphasising the skills of each team member, follows a new partition led by a talented duo of newcomers: Alexandre Darzi, Food and Beverage Manager since November 2021, and Frédéric Gigou, Executive Chef since March 2022. They both share the same desire to push the limits of personalisation offered to the guests with the help of their talented team. An inspired duo, who reigns over the resort’s four dining outlets.
In the centre is the Pure with its splendid view… a must on Moorea!
The Pure restaurant is the true heart of the resort and can seat two hundred guests, in a contemporary setting with panoramic views overlooking the lagoon and the island of Tahiti. Local and international cuisine is offered daily, for lunch and dinner, as well as a wide range of breakfasts, with Asian and Polynesian options (only on Sundays for the latter). Private breakfasts can be served on the beach, or delivered by outrigger canoe for the overwater bungalows. Sunday brunches are available once a month, or on specific occasions such as Mother’s Day. Spread over several spaces, including a large outdoor terrace and a pontoon where romantic dinners are held, the restaurant features local dance shows every Wednesday and Saturday. On Saturdays, guests can discover the a_h_i_ _m_a_’a_, the Polynesian oven with its delicious selection of traditional dishes. A ukulele trio with renowned local lady singer Hauata performs every Sunday morning, adding to the authentic atmosphere.

The Pure is located near the most important bar area of the resort, the Vue Bar, which has just been completely renovated and enjoys the same breathtaking panoramic view of the lagoon and the island of Tahiti. With the Happy Hour offered daily from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and its musical atmosphere, the bar is a guest favourite and sets the tone for a relaxing evening. A tapas menu completes the dining offers available.
K restaurant: A refined culinary discovery reinvented every month
A stay at Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort is not complete without a dinner at the K, its unique fine-dining restaurant. “We are delighted to be able to share once again this iconic place, which welcomes you with your feet in the sand under a majestic cathedral ceiling made of rare Kahaia wood from the Tuamotu. K reserves a refined tasting experience for its twenty guests for precious dinners offered on Thursday and Friday evenings”, Lamberts explains.
“Simplicity and elegance are the two key elements of the place, showcased in both design and dining, to provide unforgettable memories”. In this enchanting setting, refinement is everywhere, from the china selection to the composition of the plates. Guests are invited to choose between two “tasting courses”, renewed every month. Each dish uses exceptional products, deliciously paired with wines selected by our team of culinary experts.
Currently open two evenings a week, the K follows the same bespoke service offered throughout the resort. All other days, the restaurant is available for private dinners or private events on request. Almost everything is possible, and naturally, any preference or restriction expressed by the guest is considered. This concept also prevails in all the dining outlets, including the authentic Beach Bar, which provides all-day dining on the beach from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
